A Love Letter To Trans People
The trans community is not a mere footnote; rather, they are the bedrock of our movement.
Despite efforts by the world to eradicate them, they have carried queer liberation on their shoulders. In Nigeria, Africa, and beyond, trans individuals are redefining the concepts of self-truth, creativity, and courage. They're in danger from both the outside world and sometimes even from other queer people.
Nonetheless, they emerge with a radiance that is both powerful and unmistakable.
This post is about respect, gratitude, and admiration for the trans community rather than sympathy.
Trans People Are The Blueprint
From Marsha P. Johnson to Noni Salma, and countless trans activists who operate quietly behind the scenes, trans people have been inspiring, constructing, and envisioning our liberation. They’ve shown us what resilience looks like when everything is designed to break you. They’ve shown us that visibility is not vanity, it’s survival.
And they did it with style, humour, and grace that redefines the standards of what beauty actually is.
Trans brilliance is nothing new; it's just becoming more widely recognized.
The Beauty Of Being A Trans Person
Trans people are creative, not confused. Being trans is an art form, a spiritual breakthrough, and a refusal to fit into one category. Trans individuals have significantly influenced our perceptions of the world, influencing everything from language to fashion.
When you really look at it, trans people are changing what beauty, gender, and bravery means in Africa right now and other parts of the world.
Their visibility is their power; their joy is resistance.
The Violence They Face And The Silence That Enables It
Just to be clear, trans people aren't fighting for acceptance; they're fighting to stay alive. Every system is set up to eradicate them, whether it be from family rejection, internet harassment, or police brutality. Additionally, silence is also violence.
People who say they are part of the queer community but don't fight for trans safety are not on the side of freedom.
If trans individuals are not safe within the community, we cannot call it that.
What Allyship Really Looks Like
Action, not applause, is what it means to support trans people.
Instead of overshadowing trans voices and causes, use your platform to elevate them.
Fundraisers, activism, and art directed by trans individuals should be encouraged.
Celebrate them, give them credit, share their work, and pay them. Being a real ally doesn't just mean saying, "I support trans people." It means making sure that your words, actions, and money all match up with that statement.
Celebrate Trans Joy
Every smile, selfie, outfit, and video is a statement of beauty and survival for trans people. They are revolutionary in their joy.
Trans individuals serve as a reminder to the world that authenticity can be both gentle and courageous.
They don’t just exist, they radiate.
To Every Trans Person Reading This
Your presence is acknowledged; you are revered.
Besides that, you are loved because you are real. There is more truth, beauty, and freedom in the world because of you.
We are lucky to live in your time because you are the future.
Call to Action
Do it instead of just saying, "Protect trans people."
Follow, support, and pay trans creators, activists, and communities.
When people are silent, speak up.
Lift them up with your platform, no matter how big or small it is.
We shouldn't just look out for trans people; we should also honour them, treat them fairly, and follow their lead.
